Egypt Approves 16 Major Tourism Projects in South Magawish, Hurghada

Egypt is strengthening its tourism sector with the approval of 16 major investment projects in the South Magawish Tourism Center, south of Hurghada in the Red Sea Governorate.

The Tourism Development Authority (TDA) has issued final allocation decisions covering a combined area of more than 1 million square metres. The projects will focus on hotels, tourism services, entertainment facilities and other integrated tourism developments.

New Hotels and Tourism Facilities Planned

The approved developments are expected to add approximately 856 hotel rooms, together with professionally managed accommodation units.

One existing tourism project will also expand its capacity to 946 hotel units, increasing the accommodation options available to visitors travelling to the Red Sea destination.

According to TDA CEO Mostafa Abdel Wahab, the 16 land allocations are located within the approved master plans for the South Magawish Tourism Center and will be implemented according to established development schedules.

Two New Aqua Parks Coming to South Magawish

The tourism investment programme also includes the development of two aqua parks, with one expected to be operated by an international operator.

The projects will also feature tourism service centres and upscale entertainment areas designed to complement existing and future tourism developments.

These facilities are expected to diversify the tourism experiences available to visitors and make the South Magawish area an increasingly attractive destination for leisure, family holidays and resort stays.

Egypt Expands Tourism Investment

Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Menshawy said the Egyptian government is focused on maximising the tourism and investment potential of destinations across the country.

She noted that expanding tourism projects is part of the government's efforts to increase hotel room capacity and strengthen tourism cities and centres.

The new investments are also expected to support economic activity and create additional employment opportunities.

The ministry and the General Authority for Tourism Development will continue to facilitate investment procedures and monitor project implementation to ensure developments follow their approved schedules.

What the Development Means for Travellers

The expansion of South Magawish is another indication of Egypt's continued investment in its tourism infrastructure.

As new hotels, accommodation units, water parks, entertainment areas and tourism services are completed, visitors to Hurghada and the Red Sea coast will have more options for accommodation and leisure activities.

Hurghada is already known for its Red Sea beaches, resorts and water-based activities, making it an appealing destination for travellers looking for a combination of relaxation, entertainment and adventure.
